Important information regarding Steward Health Care
The health and wellness of our members is our top priority. We understand the concern that the closure of the Steward Health Care hospitals may be causing and have implemented several initiatives to help guide our members affected by these closures.
What we’re doing
- Proactively reaching out to impacted members and assisting them in finding new points of care or transfers to other facilities.
- Relaxing referral and authorization requirements for medically necessary covered services for impacted members as appropriate.
- If your Steward provider has moved to a new point of care that is not in-network, you can continue to see this provider for a transitionary period.
- Should it be necessary, assist you in accessing care at out-of-network providers at your in-network benefit level, including out-of-network urgent care centers.
- Adjusting claims as appropriate to the in-network rate.
What you can do
We urge our members impacted by the closures to reach out to our Member Services Department, using the number on their health plan ID cards. Our Member Services team can help triage or mitigate any disruption to care.
We will do all we can to ensure the continuity of care for our members, as well as maintain access to the high-quality health care they deserve.
